Lisa Nelsen is internationally recognised for her versatility as a flute soloist, chamber and orchestral musician, educator, and mentor in performance practices.
In 2020, support from Yamaha Music UK led to a series of online artist features, which inspired further creative projects and collaborations across digital platforms. Lisa played a key role in the British Flute Society’s vibrant online presence, leading inclusive live sessions, performance classes, and events including the BFS Performers Competition and “100 Days of Practice” – twice.
Lisa’s performance credits include concerts with Continuum Ensemble at King’s Place, London, where The Times praised her as “a flautist and a half.” Her duo with harpist Eleanor Turner, Aquilae, has toured across the UK, and she is a member of The Harborough Collective, led by violinist David Le Page. She also co-founded Enigma14, a chamber trio with cellist Julian Metzger and pianist Paul Turner.
Lisa performs and teaches internationally, with appearances across the UK, Canada, the United States, and Hong Kong. She is a Professor at the Junior Guildhall School of Music & Drama in London, and has been Specialist Flute Tutor at Wells Cathedral School for over 15 years.
Originally from a pig farm in Western Canada, Lisa draws on musical influences ranging from opera and jazz to rock. She brings energy, warmth, and integrity to every performance, sharing her passion for music with audiences and students alike.
Lisa is a Yamaha Artist, playing on solid 14K 900 Series flute.
Lisa’s appearance at the Just Flutes Festival 2025 is generously supported by Yamaha Music.
